About Bozyazı

Bozyazı is a small district on the Mediterranean coast, at the foot of the Taurus; Aydıncık lies to its east, Anamur to its west, and Gülnar and Ermenek to its north. It became a district in 1987, having previously been a town attached to Anamur. The land is mostly mountainous and forested, and farming is concentrated on the Bozyazı and Aksaz plains. Agriculture is the basis of the economy: greenhouse farming and banana production lead, alongside citrus fruit, vegetables and fruit, and peanuts are also grown on the plain. The district has a coastline of about 25 km, and a colony of Mediterranean monk seals lives along its shores.

On Paşabeleni Hill in the district centre lie the remains of the city known in antiquity as Nagidos; walls near the summit of the hill have survived. The Archaeology Department of Mersin University carried out excavations here between 1998 and 2002. Nagidos Island, Softa Castle, Kilise Cape, Maraş Hill (Arsione) and Çaltı Cave are counted among the district's main historic and natural assets. The district centre and the Tekmen, Tekeli, Gözce and Gözsüzce coasts are the areas where tourism has developed.

Bozyazı district consists of 26 neighborhoods and had a population of about 26,840 as of 2018.
